"Fasaadi Raat" is a collection of five different stories, each a crime story set in different regions. The five main stories in this collection are "Sapnon Ka Rahasya," "Farebi," "Shikar," "Khooni Khel," and "Fasaadi Raat," along with a very short story, "Vishakanya." All the stories are interesting and thrilling, reflecting the spirit in which this collection was created.
Now, speaking of the stories in this collection, the first story, "Sapnon Ka Rahasya," is about a man living a normal life with his wife and children in Pune. Nothing in his life could be considered a major event or tragedy that would cause his mind to behave abnormally—yet he gradually realizes that he has begun to have strange dreams.
Dreams that have no connection to his life, he doesn't recognize any of the faces in them, nor the places he sees. All of them seem unrelated to each other—he can't discern the connection between one dream and another, but they feel more and more like reality, repeating over and over again, and not only are vividly remembered after waking, but they also deeply disturb him.
He also discovers that seven murders occurred in those dreams, murders that were carefully staged as natural events or accidents, and now no one except him knew they were murders—because he saw how they were committed through these dreams, and he himself was the one who did it… even though he was absolutely certain that nothing like this had happened in his life. So what was the mystery behind those dreams?
The second story in the collection is "Farebi"—it tells the story of three characters involved in a crime: a husband and wife and a young guest who, under the guise of a homestay, comes to Goa and stays in a house where a different game is being played. With three characters in the story, it's difficult to guess who is actually playing what game and whose intentions are. Whatever the ultimate truth is, it's revealed in the final part, and the hunter becomes the hunted.
"Shikar" is the third story in the collection—it tells the story of a girl representing today's ambitious, immature generation, for whom their priorities are everything, and they will go to any lengths to achieve them. The story of a victim is often read in the news—that a certain boy or girl plotted their own kidnapping because they wanted to get a wish fulfilled from their parents, which they were unable to fulfill through legitimate means. Often such games are immediately caught by the police due to the immaturity of the players.
Riddhi, the victim, hatches a similar plan and is joined by a man far more cunning than she imagined, who anticipates every police action in advance and possesses all the necessary defense mechanisms. Unlike any other game she's played before, he successfully concludes this game... But the question remains: what was the final outcome of this kidnapping, and in whose favor?
The fourth story in this collection, "Khooni Khel," is about a game that unfolds spontaneously, but is actually being played by a player with all possible outcomes in mind. Robin D'Cruz, being used as a pawn in the game, fails to grasp that he is not the main player in the game but merely a mere pawn.
He was accidentally caught up in the game and, unfortunately, suffered a head injury in an accident—whereupon his mind began to play a different game. He would sometimes forget past events from his life, sometimes remember them in fragments, and sometimes they would come in so mixed that it became difficult for him to grasp the true picture, and sometimes he would even hallucinate. In such a weakened state of mind, he simply couldn't remember the answers to many crucial questions related to the wife he turned to for support.
As the game reaches its final stage with numerous corpses, he discovers the truth behind the game. He doesn't fully remember anything, but through some guesswork and information gleaned at crucial moments, he manages to piece together a sequence of events. He finds nothing but the corpses left behind.
The fifth story in this collection, "Fasadi Raat," finds him caught in a series of events on the night of April 28th in Delhi. He finds sexual pleasure in two places and loses a life in the third, drastically altering the course and direction of his life. A man who had lived a normal life with a clean image until yesterday finds his life entangled in a maze and ruined, leaving not only the city but the country as a fugitive. He settles in Kathmandu, but fate one day brings him face to face with the very people who were the main players in the game that destroyed him. Now the question was how he could settle his scores with them.
The last story in the collection is “Visha Kanya” – the story of an ordinary girl who used her beautiful body as a weapon and achieved great success… but ultimately she too got the same thing that she gave to others.
