This is the third novel in the David Francis series, published under the hashtag of crime fiction, but the second in the series' chronology, in which David undergoes the process of becoming a masterpiece. The first novel in the series, "Dedh Sayani," was published chronologically, and chronicles the story of the character's full establishment. Ideally, it would be the tenth in the series. David's journey to "Dedh Sayani" spans nine separate stories, with "A Damsel in Distress" being the second.
A few things about David... He is a young man of mixed race, whose father was Icelandic and mother Maharashtrian. From childhood, he was so addicted to reading detective stories and watching detective films that he became obsessed with becoming one. To this end, he underwent all kinds of training and mentally prepared himself. Nature also supported him and he got the freedom he needed to walk on such a dangerous path after his parents died in a road accident – and he set out to become James Bond.
Now, this man named David Francis sets out to test himself. He's free from all constraints and, bordering on madness, has only three passions: travel, girls, and dealing with criminals. He wants to see every corner of the world and is determined to find natural beauty even in the most despicable locations. He desires to enjoy women of every color, every race, and every part of the world—he's a pervert, but he loves to win anyone over with love. His obsession with meddling in other people's affairs and finding criminals to blame for their actions reaches dangerous levels.
An interesting aspect of his personality is that he has created a self-image in his mind, which he refers to as "Inner David" or "Mini Me." He not only discusses with him, but also—what he cannot do directly—wants to become Mini Me and expresses his every feeling through him in all sorts of words. The two often bicker. While this may seem like a mental disorder, it serves as a source of strength for David.
Now, about this story—David's story doesn't flourish without a girl. So, David's story must include a girl, and she's bound to be caught in trouble. This is what gives David his true kick, and it's from here that the story unfolds, rigorously testing the abilities of David Francis, a blend of James, Sherlock, Nero, and Sexton.
In this story, this damsel is a girl named Juhi, who meets him as a mystery, and then is kidnapped right before his eyes. As he begins his investigation, the secrets surrounding this distress gradually emerge, revealing that she was the victim of a network not only involved in drug trafficking but also involved in terrorism.
The question now was: who had kidnapped Juhi? What did he hope to achieve by kidnapping her? David risks his life, repeatedly endangering himself, to get to the bottom of the incident, but can he rescue Juhi safely? Read on to find out the answers to these questions… A Damsel in Distress!
