This is the fourth novel published in the David Francis series under the Crime Fiction hashtag—but it's the third in order, so the serial number on the cover is given accordingly. It's a thrilling journey of ten stories, from "Kaya Palat" to "Dedh Sayani," where each character gradually develops and reaches their pinnacle. The series may continue beyond that, but for now, this first set of ten stories has already reached its tenth anniversary, with the stories gradually being published sequentially.
Since this series is based on the character of David Francis, it's important to know a few things about him... He's a mixed-race young man, whose father was from Iceland and his mother was Maharashtrian. From childhood, he was so addicted to reading detective stories and watching spy films that he became obsessed with portraying one. To this end, he underwent all kinds of training from childhood and prepared himself mentally. Nature also supported him, and he gained the freedom he needed to embark on such a dangerous path after his parents died in a road accident—and he set out to become James Bond.
Now, this man named David Francis sets out to test himself. He's free from all constraints and, bordering on madness, has only three passions: travel, girls, and dealing with criminals. He wants to see every part of the world and is determined to find natural beauty even in the most despicable locations. He desires to enjoy women of every color, every race, and every part of the world—he's a pervert, but he loves to win anyone over with love. His obsession with meddling in other people's affairs and finding criminals to blame for their actions reaches dangerous levels.
An interesting aspect of his personality is that he has created a self-image in his mind, which he refers to as "Inner David" or "Mini Me." He not only discusses with him, but also—what he cannot do directly—wants to become Mini Me and expresses his every feeling through him in all sorts of words. The two often bicker. While this may seem like a mental disorder, it serves as a source of strength for David.
As for the story's "Dark side," it explores a dark side of the glamorous film world, a world of immense wealth and fame. This dark side not only involves the involvement of black money, exploitation being a common problem, but also highlights the ever-growing parallel industry of adult content that is rapidly gaining ground.
In the story, David is joined by three girls, all daughters, wives, or heroines of people associated with this dark side. The heroine, whose failed kidnapping attempt begins the story, remains a mystery to David until the end. He can't decide whether she is a victim or a cunning player in this game, one who exploits him, but also provides valid reasons for her exploitation.
The wife of one of the two men he directly identifies as the villains in this case helps him understand the drama, while the daughter of the other not only supports him at every step—but also becomes his own troubleshooter. He was a very ordinary man in this vast, dark world—one who delves into the fire but ends up on the brink of death multiple times in a single incident. The question was: would he be able to uncover this aspect?
