Aaseb: Six Horror Stories Where Fear Has Different Faces

Aaseb is a collection of six horror stories that approach fear from different directions. These stories do not always follow the traditional ghost-story formula, and some deliberately leave parts of their endings open to interpretation. Rather than explaining everything, the collection allows readers to decide what they believe happened.

The first story, Khabis, revolves around cursed immortality. An unnamed character has survived for centuries and discovers a disturbing way to continue experiencing life by stealing the age and lives of others. His victims are influential people living in different parts of the world, allowing him to move freely while keeping the truth about his existence hidden.

Aaseb follows a naturally timid young man obsessed with proving that he is brave. His constant attempt to suppress his fear gives negative forces an opportunity to take control of his life. Eventually, he realizes that escaping fear is not the answer. To overcome it, he must accept who he is and confront what frightens him. His journey takes him back to the haunted place in the middle of a dense forest where his story began.

The third story, Dark Tourism, explores the growing fascination with places associated with tragedy, paranormal activity and disturbing legends. A group of Asian friends living in London travels to a newly listed haunted location, hoping to spend three nights experiencing the thrill of dark tourism. But the first night quickly makes them realize that the stories they considered rumours may actually be real.

The Lake House Mystery begins when a young architect and his wife disappear from a lakeside villa in Lucerne. Their disappearance becomes another unresolved tragedy until strange echoes begin emerging from the frozen lake years later—whispers, names and unexplained faces reflected in glass. The house appears to have preserved a secret, while the lake seems to have preserved something else.

Night Walker tells the story of a girl who died after suffering years of exploitation by cruel people. Death does not bring her peace, and she continues wandering from body to body, unable to escape the existence that has become her curse.

The final story, Roswell Mansion, introduces a different kind of horror. A person spending the night inside the house remains physically present in the real world but mentally enters another reality. Once there, returning may no longer be possible.

Together, these six stories explore immortality, fear, paranormal spaces, unexplained disappearances and alternate realities, while leaving enough unanswered for readers to form their own interpretations.
